Tending the threshold

Preparing to descend into the duat - a 2 hour workshop

A special experience to learn about the Ancient Egyptian journey through the underworld, the Duat.

Anpu (Anubis) is our guide into the Duat, the ancient egyptian journey through the underworld. As we stand at threshold of change, we tend to the body, the soul, preparing ourselves for the soul’s journey.

Developed from the sacred wisdom of Anput, we join together in tending to our bodies, our hearts, our souls as we stand at the threshold of descent into the underworld so that we may create anew.

You’ve been feeling it. Seeing the collective shadows rise to the surface, reveal themselves to finally be met and alchemized. You feel the call to take action, to somehow participate in creating a new world, different from the one we’ve gotten too comfortable with.

This is where we begin. Before we can act, we must establish and tend to the support we need as we move towards action, towards collective alchemy.

Together we will…

  • Prepare the heart - meet what’s there and alchemize before descending into the Duat, to maintain the integrity of the soul

  • Connect with key supportive elements - connect with the elements, ancestors, plantcestors to support us as we prepare to embark on this journey

  • Activate the senses

  • Meet Anput (Anubis) to guide us along the way - attune to the energy of Anput and receive direction for the journey ahead

  • Move through a virtual procession - collectively acknowledge each soul consciously choosing to cross this threshold together

Why is tending at the threshold important?

  • With all of the collective shadows being revealed to us and livestreamed from our phones, we are feeling a strong sense of urgency to act. While action is needed, it is also important to prepare ourselves and honor the moment we’re in: the threshold of the journey to create anew. This is our opportunity to prepare for what we’re being called into, and to do so together. It is informed by the wisdom and guidance of Anput (Anubis) who would prepare the body before the journey through the underworld.

  • Because we must know where we’re leaping from before we leap. So much is falling apart around us, partly because we’re leaping without knowing what this sense of urgency is rooted in, without feeling the emotional impact of what we’re experiencing and witnessing. This is one of the things that got us here in the first place, being so disconnected from our bodies. This is an opportunity to honor and tend and listen to the body to receive the wisdom and guidance it has before we act.

  • Because the body is an essential part of this process. It was what informs us along the way, and what we return to, over and over again.

  • Tools to continue honoring, tending, listening, and being in devotional practice with the body.

  • A strong sense of walking together and crossing this threshold with others that feel similarly to you.

  • A view of where we are collectively in the journey of the underworld, and a sense of where you may be in the journey individually.

  • A new community of people ready to commit to this journey in a way that holds this moment, ourselves, and the journey itself in integrity, in wholeness, in reverence.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Duat is the underworld according to Ancient Egyptian mythology. The myth says that Ra (the sungod) would make his journey across the sky through the day and then through the Duat through the night where he would be reborn with the sunrise if he made it through the journey.

  • Yes, please have a journal, a candle to light, fragrant oils you can use for your body, and some kind of flowers.

  • You may have been noticing that the collective shadows have been revealing themselves. Shadows reveal themselves to be met, to be known, to be explored, to be alchemized. But in order to meet these shadows, we also need to prepare ourselves to embark on that journey of alchemy. We need to honor the threshold of the moment we are in with ceremony and by being in full acknowledgement of it. This workshop is informed by the Ancient Egyptian god, Anput (or Anubis) who would prepare the body for the journey through the underworld. He knew the importance of honoring this threshold and the upcoming journey.

  • Even if you have no intention of proactively meeting and exploring the shadow, you are already being faced with it on a daily basis, and this workshop will support you in learning and knowing the kind of ending required to meet the moment we’re in.

  • I have an upcoming 4 month long journey, beginning in September that will be a journey through alchemizing the shadow. You can also reach out to work with me in a 1:1 capacity as well.

Mona is an alchemist in the ways she

weaver of webs in her work with clients one on one as well as in group facilitation. She always sees the potential of connection and collaboration in what she observes, and lets that perspective move her in her work and the ways she moves through the world. She trusts and believes that healing always happens in community, no matter how hyper-individuated society gets. What moves her is curiosity and a belief that ancient wisdom is held within our bodies and that by using practices guided by the wisdom of our bodies, we can actively heal and bring the collective back to a place of harmony. She does this through earth and body-based practices, an exploration of archetypal work, and elemental shadow work.

Mona owes her practice and “work” to her ancestors before her, her immigrant family, and the teachers she’s had the privilege to learn from in this life. As a Somatic Therapist, her practice focuses on touch and the power of co-regulation and safety that can happen from being in contact with another. Again, healing happens in community.

Mona is currently living on her ancestral lands in Cairo, Egypt. You can learn more about her in the about page.
